A lot has happened in the last 5 years. To begin with I met Michele5 years ago and on December 8th we will be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.
5 years ago tomorrow I finished the 5 Mile Turkey Trot and had lost over 40 pounds participating in a group weight loss program “One Ton A- Fun”. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I stopped exercising. And for some unknown reason, consciously or sub-consciously, I stopped focusing on my health. Not only did I regained that 40 pounds but reached an all time high of 418 pounds. It took me a long time to get serious and realize that I have a whole lot of living left to do… I began in a small way to do better. When the progress wasn’t enough I started Weight Watchers at 410.4 pounds and started exercising. This blog was started back in May and an idea led to a bunch of people trying to lose weight and get healthier. The ATX 100 group was started. There are now over 80 people with a common goal to lose 100 pounds and get healthier. All the above is old news. If you have been reading this blog you know most of this already. Last Saturday Michele and I walked the Freedom Run 5K. We finished but came in last overall. But we were happy and felt like we had made serious progress. And we crossed the finish line together. It was exciting to see so many of the ATX 100 group out and having fun exercising. Today, I am madly in love with my wife. I feel like I am making a difference at my job. My family is healthy and happy. And in some small way, maybe I am helping others get healthier. At my last weigh in I was 362.8 pounds. My next weigh in will be next Thursday December 1st. I am officially closing in on 50 pounds lost. Before I started this blog I set a goal to lose 100 pounds and walk the Capital 10k next March. 5 years, 5k, 50 pounds, 65 years old…I am half way there. And Michele, I love you more than Cupcakes!

It can be done, it can be done by you and you are getting it done. Look behind you and you can see the progress you have made. Look ahead and you can see how much further you need to go. You will get there.
