POWER OUTAGE!

This is a real struggle. I have just lost all sense of motivation. Or dedication.

I just weighed in and gain 2 lbs in the last four weeks….still even with some ups and downs I weigh exactly what I weighed on May 2, 2012. What is that 13 weeks…no progress.

I feel like I am off track...hell off track doesn’t even come close to describing it…I have no idea where the track is.  Everything I start to write sounds like everything I have written before. “Intermission Is Over”???? No there has been a complete power outage.

I don’t know how to get out of this rut. I am not exercising. I returned to ATX 100 for a couple of meetings and enjoyed being around so many people who were enthusiastic about getting healthier. There are so many new people and a few of the original group. When we started ATX 100 I told them that I would be there even if it became the ATX 1. Because, I wasn’t giving up.  I intended to live a healthier life style forever.

Is this the let down that has always plagued me? I was so jacked up after completing the Capital 10K. I really had a sense of accomplishment.  But since the Cap 10K, I have hardly moved.  It has only been the last 3 weeks that I have gotten out and walked over 5 K on three different occasions.  I set myself up for what now appears to be a near impossible goal to walk the Half Marathon next February 17th. I feel like I have defeated myself before I even get started.

Hi, Joe. I do ATX100 and have been for a year! I also took the summer off. Oh, I have been careful, but not great, in my food choices, and have done the workouts, although not regularly. I haven't gained any weight, but have not lost any more, either. I have signed up for the Austin Half on 2/17 and I am going to do it. You can too! We need to support each other as we have in the past and together we can achieve our goals. I really, really believe that. You have 156 days to prepare. See you at the finish line.

Hi, Joe. I've been thinking about you and Michelle and wondering how you guys were doing. I haven't been to ATX recently but still get together with a few folks. Sorry to hear you're feeling stuck. I started with pleasant walks that were doable every day without fail, and which I never dread because they aren't painful...baby steps instead of giant leaps. It's the frog in boiling water thing, which never feels bad because it's so gradual.

Please know, though, that I have the utmost respect for you and your accomplishments. I would have never even contemplated a 10K 100 pounds ago...you're amazing! It also took a huge health crisis and 8 day stay in the hospital before I addressed my wellness (or lack thereof), so you're way ahead of me there too in taking this on before you're forced.

All of this is to say give yourself credit and be gentle with yourself, both mentally and physically. Would love to see you guys sometime soon.
